Overview of Screen Printing Textile Conveyer Dryer:
Screen printing dryers are first described by the width of the belt, then the length of the dryer. A 2408
dryer has a 24 inch wide belt, and it is 8 feet long. They will go as big as 72 inch wide belt, and 10
or 20 feet long, which are usually gas dryers.
The dryer is a production item, which when deciding on the size of dryer, you need to know the
dozens of shirts per hour you currently are doing, and the dozens of shirts you will need to do in the
future.
The textile electric dryer used by manual printers or beginners is usually a 2408 or a 3611, if you have more than one manual printer. Automatic printers will use a gas or electric dryer belt width of 36 inch up to a 72 inch belt.
When shopping for a screen printing electric dryer, you should look for several features.
Variable Size Opening - when doing t-shirts, you can close the opening to keep the heat in, but you need to widen the opening when printing sweats or hats.
Belt Speed Control - Plastisol inks need 300-330 degrees for about one minute to cure, depending on the thickness of the ink deposit. A thicker deposit of ink needs more time in the dryer, for the heat to penetrate all the way thought the ink.
Dryer Vent - You will want to vent the fumes and the heat out of the building.
Temperature Control - Some substrates are heat sensitive, and you will need to reduce the heat.

Compact Size
The Mercury table top series is small enough to fit almost anywhere. With a foot print of approximately 32"x 66", the 2300C takes up very little space. In many smaller shops, space is everything. The 2300C is also small enough to be used as a portable unit for those "on site" printing jobs.
Air Cooled Hood
The Mercury table top series features air flow to keep the chamber hood cool.
The Mercury 2300C is available in a 115V model and the 3000C is available in a 230V model. A 30 amp breaker is recommended. For those shops that are not wired for 220V service, the 2300C gives you more options.

Infrared emitters have an optimal distance at which they operate most efficiently. If the emitter is too far away, energy is wasted and lost in the distance. If the emitter is too close, the substrate may come in contact with the emitter surface. Adjusting the heater height is an absolute necessity if the products that you print vary in height. We want to maintain an approximate distance of 2 1/2" from heater surface to ink. |
